Summerland rests just north of Penticton and west of Okanagan Lake. In addition to water sports and beaches along the lake, The Kettle Valley Steam Railway is fun for the whole family. Golf courses and wineries are also easily accessible.

A number of schools are available in Summerland, including a Montessori school, middle school and secondary school.

Most errands within the city can be completed by cycling, although a vehicle is recommended to access Penticton.

Naramata is located to the north of Penticton along the eastern bank of Okanagan Lake, where you can engage in a number of watersports or relax on the beach. Hiking is easily accessible, and the Kettle Valley Trail offers fantastic views.

While its abundance of acclaimed wineries has made the area known for its output of quality wines, being tucked away from major travel routes keeps the community relatively peaceful.

With few businesses within the community, a vehicle is required to run errands in nearby Penticton. Transit to Penticton is available but runs on a very limited schedule.

Situated between Okanagan Lake and Skaha Lake, Penticton is full of activities to do. Water sports and skiing are accessible in addition to recreational activities in the many facilities and parks within the city.

As the largest city in the South Okanagan, Penticton has many amenities, including a regional airport, hospital and a stadium for concerts and events. Many education options are available, including a French-language school, private schools and a local Okanagan College campus.

The city is mostly accessible by bicycle or on foot. A number of bus routes are also available to travel throughout the city.

Okanagan Falls is located on the southern shores of Skaha Lake, which offers opportunities to fish, sail and waterski. Camping and rock climbing are other popular activities here.

Housing in Okanagan Falls is among the most affordable in the Okanagan Valley with cottage-style homes available. Okanagan Falls has an elementary school but secondary schools are available in Penticton and Oliver.

Although fruit markets are present during the growing season, Okanagan Falls does not have a grocery store. As a result, a car is recommended even though limited transit to Penticton and Oliver is available.

Located north of Osoyoos, Oliver is known for its pleasant warm summers. With Vaseux Lake, Osoyoos Lake and Baldy Mountain Resort nearby, plenty of fun is available year-round.

Known as the wine capital of Canada, Oliver is famed for its Golden Mile of wineries that attracts people worldwide. Family housing is available around downtown and higher-priced homes that overlook the lake or orchards are also available.

Oliver has its own secondary school as well as a hospital. It’s possible to cycle or walk to complete errands within town. Limited transit to Penticton and Oliver are available.

At the southern end of the Okanagan, Osoyoos is Canada’s only desert and has the country’s warmest lake, where swimming and boating are popular. From the warm weather, Osoyoos produces fruit in abundance and has many wineries.

Osoyoos has condos and houses closer to downtown as well as homes with views of the lake or on the lakefront. Osoyoos has a secondary school and health centre, but the closest hospital is in nearby Oliver.

About 30 mins east of Osoyoos and just north of the Canadian border to the United States is Rock Creek. Popular activities include camping, windsurfing at nearby Conkle Lake and skiing at Baldy Mountain Resort. Hiking and biking on the Kettle Valley Rail Trail also provides incredible views of the natural surroundings.

The community is mostly on the southwest side of the Kettle River. With a population in the hundreds, the area is quite peaceful and secluded. As very few businesses exist within town, a vehicle is required to complete errands in nearby towns.

Located about 30 mins northeast of Osoyoos, Keremeos rests just north of the Similkameen River. Fishing and swimming in the Similkameen River are popular, and skiing is available at the nearby Apex Mountain Resort. Known for its agriculture production, fresh fruits and vegetables are easily accessible.

Keremeos has a combined elementary and secondary school as well as its own health centre. With the low cost of properties, the community has grown significantly in recent years. Errands can be completed without a vehicle. Transit is available to Penticton but only offers one trip daily.

Located where the Tulameen River splits from the Similkameen River, Princeton is about 45 mins northeast of Keremeos. Kayaking and fishing are popular in the rivers and many lakes in the surrounding area. Other activities include hiking and cycling on the Kettle Valley Rail Trail.

Princeton receives the most days with measurable sunshine in a year in BC and is among the highest in Canada. As the largest town in the Similkameen, it has a couple elementary schools, one secondary school and its own hospital.

Errands can be completed by cycling or on foot. One daily bus traveling to Penticton is available.
