A Crime Prevention and Emergency Assistance Partnership Between REALTORS® and Police Agencies
The Okanagan Mainline Real Estate Board and the Kelowna RCMP launched the Board's Realty Watch program in the Central Okanagan on November 16th, 2011. Click here for media release and supporting documents.
Seeing the success of the Realty Watch network across the Lower Mainland with 14,000 REALTORS®, OMREB's pilot program has been initiated in the Central Zone where there are close to 800 members to assist police as extra ‘eyes and ears’ in their communities. It will soon be rolled out Board-wide to include the North Okanagan and Shuswap Zones, and the RCMP detachments in those communities, for the support of more than 1,100 member REALTORS®.
The prime objective for Realty Watch is crime prevention and the emergency assistance to police in the case of missing persons or abductions. The program is a cooperative effort between police and the real estate industry to stop crime before it happens.
